I’m a storyteller – playwright, fiction writer and freelance journalist – living and working in Minneapolis, MN. Currently, I’m developing The Heart Play, which has a staged reading in August with Monstrous Little Theatre Company, and starting the first draft of my next play.

If you’re interested in learning more about my plays, getting a perusal script, or commissioning a piece, you can email me at Matthewt.Stoffel@gmail.com, and expect a reply in 2 business days – but usually sooner.
I’ve written for a wide variety of publications, in addition to working with a content marketing agency. I’ve written newsletters, emails, press releases, speeches and more, and I also do some consulting on strategy, communications, and messaging for political campaigns.
I’m always happy to try something different and see where my writing can help a project or client. If you are looking for a writer, let’s chat about your needs and see if we have a good fit. Just email Matthewt.Stoffel@gmail.com, and let me know what you’re looking for.
What I’ve Done
If you want more of the traditional resume information, please check out my LinkenIn profile. Feel free to throw me a connection request on there, and let me know this webpage sent you.
My first full-length play received an educational mounting at Augustana, and was the first play to have a staged-reading by the Black Hills Playhouse fringe series. My other plays can be viewed on the New Play Exchange.
I am a co-founder of Monstrous Little Theatre Company, dedicated to bringing challenging and thought-provoking shows to the Sioux Falls area. I’ve done internships with The Outdoor Campus [Public Relations] and Augustana University [Development], and worked as Public Relations Manager for Bare Bodkins Theatre Company. I’ve been a director, children’s theatre instructor, and currently work with 9 Clouds.
I graduated from Augustana University in May of 2015 with a bachelor of arts in English, journalism and theatre. At Augie, I also completed the Civitas honors program, acted in over 30 plays while working on another 15-20, wrote for the campus paper, and completed an honors thesis in English to graduate with departmental distinction.
Writing is a large part of how I support myself, and I’d love to talk through whatever is on your mind. Please shoot me an email so we can sit down, or just contact me on Twitter if you have a quick question. I’m eager to help you out.
Thanks for visiting,
Matt
